Troubleshooting

Solutions to common issues and frequently asked questions.

My translations aren't showing on my storefront

Translations need to be published before they appear on your live store. Check these steps:

  1. Open the item in the translation editor.
  2. Make sure the translations have a Published status (green badge). If they show as Translated (blue), click Publish to Shopify.
  3. Verify the target language is published in your Shopify admin (Settings → Languages).
  4. Check that your storefront language selector is working — visit your store and switch languages.

Content is missing after sync

If some content doesn't appear in Lingomatic after a full sync:

Auto-translate isn't working

Translation quality isn't good enough

I ran out of credits

When your monthly credits are used up:

Glossary terms aren't being applied

The dashboard says "Plan limited"

The translation is valid, but Shopify's plan-specific theme-key cap has no room for it in that language. Lingomatic keeps the translation and prioritizes more visible storefront keys. Open Theme content to pin important keys or free space, then publish again. This status does not consume more credits.

Translations disappeared after a theme update

A live-theme update can remove translations registered against theme locale keys. Lingomatic listens for theme updates, waits for the update to settle, checks which published keys Shopify is missing, and republishes those keys automatically. There is nothing for you to do, and republishing costs no credits. How the repair works.

What happens to my translations if I uninstall?

They stay on your store. Published translations are stored by Shopify in its own translation layer, and uninstalling never removes them — there is no script or proxy to unpick. Our copy of your data is deleted 48 hours later, as Shopify requires, so publish anything still sitting unpublished in the editor before you go. Full details.

Third-party app content isn't showing up

Whether a third-party app's content can be translated depends on how the app stores its data:

Translations show "Error: Throttled" after publishing

This can happen when publishing a large number of translations at once. Shopify limits how many API requests can be made per second, and high-volume publishes can temporarily exceed this limit.
