What protects your work: your edits, a theme deploy, your bill, and the day you leave.
Translating a store is slow, careful work. Four things in Lingomatic exist to make sure you never have to do it twice.
When you change a translation by hand — in the editor or by uploading your own file — it is marked as reviewed, and the version it replaced is filed in history.
A reviewed translation survives re-syncing. Lingomatic re-reads your store constantly, and when it clears out translations that no longer match your content, it clears unpublished machine drafts only. Your edits and everything already published stay put.
Pushing a theme to your live store can make Shopify drop translations registered against theme keys, even when the push doesn't touch a single locale file. It is a hard failure to catch on your own: nothing errors, the language still counts as complete, and the only symptom is shoppers reading your source language.
Lingomatic watches for live theme updates. After one lands, it waits for the deploy to settle, asks Shopify which of your published theme keys are actually still registered, and republishes the ones that went missing. Deploys that arrive in bursts are handled as one, and a push that lands mid-repair schedules another pass.
You do not have to notice, report, or fix anything. Updates to unpublished and development themes are ignored, because those never affect what shoppers see.
Every translation shows its exact credit cost before it runs. Beyond that:
Understanding credits covers what a credit buys and exactly how words are counted.
Lingomatic publishes into Shopify's own translation layer — the same place Shopify's native tools write to. Your published translations sit on your store, not on our servers and not behind a script that has to stay installed.
Uninstalling does not remove them. We never delete a published translation on our way out: no storefront script, no DNS change, no proxy, nothing to unpick. Your languages keep working.
What we do delete is our own copy. Shopify requires us to erase your shop's data 48 hours after an uninstall, and we do — content records, unpublished drafts, glossary, history, usage. Anything you never published exists only in that copy.
