Hit Translate & Adapt’s 2-language limit?
Add your 3rd, 4th and 5th language and keep the translations you already have.
- Existing translations stay published
- Imports cost 0 credits
- Imports don’t count against the product limit
First sync
Your first two languages are imported before you add the next one
Translate & Adapt writes published translations into Shopify. Lingomatic reads the same translation layer, so the move starts with an import rather than a new translation job.
- 1
Install Lingomatic alongside Translate & Adapt
Leave both apps installed for the first sync. Lingomatic finds the languages and published text already held by Shopify.
- 2
Check the imported languages
They appear as published. On the free plan, no translation runs, so your credit balance and product allowance do not change.
- 3
Add the next language
Choose the register, brand voice and terms for that language, then translate only the content that still needs work.
Plans
Choose by language and catalogue size
Start on Basic to check the import. Move only when the next language or catalogue size requires it.
| Plan | Price | Credits | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | Free | 10,000 | 2 languages · 100 products |
| Growth | $19/month | 50,000 | 5 languages · 500 products |
| Pro | $49/month | 200,000 | Unlimited languages and products |
1 credit = 1 word of Standard translation. Premium is available on Growth and Pro for eligible edited long-form text and uses 1.5 credits per word.
Language controls
Set the voice before the third language is translated
Every plan includes the controls that decide how the output sounds. Set them once for each language before running a large job.
Brand voice. Describe how your store speaks, from sentence length to words you avoid.
Per-language register. Choose the formality that fits each market instead of forcing one tone across every language.
Glossary and do-not-translate terms. Lock product names, materials and other terms that must stay consistent or remain unchanged.

What hitting the limit sounds like
Three verbatim Translate & Adapt reviews, all about the same wall.
“I had read other app that support more languages but they are all limited. I would be more then happy to pay $10-20 if this app supported more languages.”
“…it auto translates only 2 languages. No obvious way to translate more. This is not mentioned anywhere, only when you reach the limit.”
“2 stars = 2 languages. Please don’t limit us like this.”

Stay with Translate & Adapt when two languages are enough
Translate & Adapt is free, native to Shopify and enough for a store that needs no more than two automatically translated languages. If that covers your markets, there is no reason to replace it.
Lingomatic fits when you need a third language, more catalogue capacity or controls such as brand voice, a glossary and a different register for each language. You can install it for the import check before choosing a paid plan.
FAQ
Adding languages after Translate & Adapt
I already translated 2 languages in Translate & Adapt. Do I lose them, or pay to redo them?
No. On your first sync, Lingomatic imports your existing Translate & Adapt translations and marks them published. They are not re-translated, no credits are spent, and they do not use your plan’s product limit. You pay only for the new languages you add. An imported translation is redone only if you change the original text, in which case only that field updates, or if you choose “Retranslate” yourself.
Which plan lets me add a third, fourth and fifth language?
Growth: up to 5 languages and 500 products for $19/month. Pro removes both limits for $49/month.
How are new translations charged?
One credit pays for one word of Standard translation. Premium is available on Growth and Pro for eligible edited long-form text and costs 1.5 credits per word. Imported Translate & Adapt text costs 0 credits.
