Bestellung ansehenThe manual way
Shopify supports translated customer notifications once you add and publish another store language. For one or two templates, the built-in workflow may be all you need.
In Shopify admin, go to Settings → Notifications and select the customer email you want to translate.
Click Localize to open the available language fields in Shopify Translate & Adapt.
Translate the editable subject and body fields. Keep every Liquid variable and HTML element exactly where it belongs.
Save first, then use Preview and select the target language. Check the content, links, order data, and mobile layout.
These steps follow Shopify’s current guidance. Read Shopify’s notification translation instructions.
The Lingomatic way
Keep every customer email consistent with the rest of your store without copying translations into templates one by one.
Lingomatic translates both fields exposed by Shopify, with dedicated context for transactional email copy.
Variables such as order numbers, customer names, URLs, and HTML attributes are protected before translation.
Growth and Pro can pick up changed email templates within 15 minutes, translate them, and auto-publish if you choose.
Notification availability differs by store and enabled Shopify features. Lingomatic covers the customer email templates returned by Shopify’s Translations API. Staff alerts, SMS notifications, Shop app messages, and emails from third-party apps such as Klaviyo are not included.
When automation helps
Tone, terminology, and do-not-translate rules should not stop at the checkout button. Lingomatic applies the same instructions to your products, theme, policies, and notification emails.
Set a tone and language-specific register.
Lock product names and brand terms with glossary rules.
Review side by side before publishing, or enable auto-publish.
“Everything is working fine, apart from the customer notification e-mails which … are not being translated.”
“There are about 30 shop notifications … what could be the best practice to make these translations?”
“We would like automated abandoned card emails to be send in the related language.”
If you have one extra language, only a few notification templates, and do not mind translating and checking them manually, Shopify Translate & Adapt is a sensible free option. Lingomatic becomes useful when you need more languages, shared brand rules, protected terminology, a review workflow, and automatic updates across the rest of your store too.
